The story

Eggnog, renowned for its lush consistency and delightful sweet-spiced taste, has seamlessly been part of the holiday festivities. It's a harmonious blend of milk, cream, sugar, whipped eggs, and festive spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin spice, gains an extra layer of merriment with the addition of spirits such as brandy, rum, whiskey, bourbon, or vodka. The genesis of eggnog is a historical tapestry with disputed origins, some attributing it to East Anglia, England, while others suggest its evolution from a medieval European hot milk beverage. The term “eggnog” made its print debut in 1788, its etymology sparking debates, with theories linking it to Old English “nog” for strong beer or the 16th-century “noggin,” a small wooden mug. Colonial America witnessed the transformation of this elixir from English posset to an American phenomenon, embraced by figures like George Washington, who had his own recipe.
