The story

Peach pies have ancient origins, with the concept of pies dating back to Ancient Egypt around 1,300 B.C. Early pies featured plain bread dough filled with honey, fruits, and nuts. The Greeks had their version, enclosing meat in a flour and water paste. Over time, pie-making evolved, and by the 16th century, detailed instructions in cookbooks made the process accessible to a broader audience. Peach pie has roots in 14th-century Europe, with the first printed recipe credited to Geoffrey Chaucer in 1381 England. Dutch peach pie from the late 15th century introduced a unique twist – serving it with a scoop of ice cream on top, a tradition known as peach pie à la mode. This tradition made its way to America, where peach pie with ice cream is a popular combination. In the 19th century, homes in Georgia embraced fruit pies, including peach pie, for breakfast, considering it a hearty start to a day of hard work.
