The General Foods Company, owner of Baker's brand, capitalized on the cake's popularity, leading to a remarkable 73% increase in Baker's Chocolate sales. However, the possessive ”s“ was dropped from the cake's name, evolving into the ”German Chocolate Cake,“ causing the misconception of German origins. This decadent treat consists of layers of rich chocolate cake adorned with a coconut-pecan frosting.
