Oreo Cookie Cheesecake Day

The story

Cheesecake, with its rich and creamy filling and crust made from crushed cookies or crackers, has a history dating back to antiquity. Around the fifth century BC, the ancient Greeks created the earliest primitive cheesecakes known as ”plakous,“ characterized by flat masses. These cheesecakes were made by combining fresh cheese, flour, and honey into patties, which were then cooked on an earthenware griddle.

In later medieval Europe, cheesecake resurfaced in the form of tarts with a pastry base. The modern cheesecake we know and love began to take shape in the 18th century and evolved with the introduction of cream cheese in the 1870s, especially popular in the United States. On the other hand, Oreo cookies have been satisfying our taste buds since their introduction by Nabisco in 1912.

These classic cookies consist of two chocolate cookies sandwiching a layer of sweet crème filling, and they have become a worldwide sensation, selling in over 100 countries. With more than 85 different flavors and counting, Oreo keeps innovating while staying true to its classic recipe. When it comes to Oreo Cookie Cheesecake, there are different ways to blend these two treats.

You can adorn your cheesecake with Oreo cookies, create a delectable Oreo crust, or mix chopped Oreos into the cheesecake filling for an extra crunch. The possibilities are as endless as your love for Oreos!
