Today, ready-made chocolate pudding is readily available at grocery stores, convenience stores, and gas stations, with popular brands like Jell-O and Snack Pack offering the convenience of this treat without stovetop preparation. While chocolate pudding's creamy texture is a modern delight, its origins can be traced back to a more cake-like dessert served in the 17th century, a stark departure from today's spoonable smoothness.
